31 Days of Prayer for my Children
Every year I like to start the New Year out praying 31 things for my children. I will be praying a specific prayer everyday for 31 days. What better gift to give to your child than the gift of prayer. Won’t you join me in praying for you child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or some other child in your life?
Day 1: Obedience to God.
Acts 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied, ” We must obey God rather than men!” (NIV)
Lord, I pray that I can teach my children the importance of obeying You and not man. I pray that my life will be a testimony to them that they will see my faith lived out in my life not just through words. Give my husband & I the wisdom and knowledge to raise godly children that obey You. In Jesus name, Amen.
Bible in 90 Days-Day 1
I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Day. I have spent the day with my two daughters while my son & husband went on a hunting trip. I am sure my little man will have lots of stories to tell when they return home. Today is a new day in a New Year and also the start of my challenge to read through the Bible in 90 days. I have to admit that I am a bit nervous about this challenge; 90 days is along commitment however I am doing this to grow in my walk with the Lord because he should be my first priority anyway.
Today I read Genesis 1:1-Genesis 16:16. Although I have read these chapters many times something really spoke to my heart today. It was the story of Noah & how God told him EXACTLY how to build the ark. You are probably thinking “so” well I thought about different times in my life that I was too busy to seek God’s wisdom & advice. When I pondered on that thought I realized that there have been many things in my life that could have been so much easier if I would have searched for God’s guidance. Another thing that really spoke to me also is the story of Abraham & Sarah. God had promised to give Abraham a son however Sarah was not patient enough to wait on God so she took matters into her own hands & gave her servant Hagar to Abraham to be his wife. If you know the story you know that Hagar did have a son, however so did Sarah but it was in God’s timing not hers. I think back to situations where I did not wait on the God & tried to make the situation turn out the way I wanted it. Oh, if I had only waited on the Lord I would not have suffered such pain. As I reflected on these two important lessons I have learned that it is better to wait on the Lord & let him handle it. He does not need my help. So as this New Year begins I am going to seek his will for my life & learn to wait patiently. I know this will not be easy for me since my personality is to control things around me. I am praying that God will fill this need to control, so that I can learn to let go & trust in him.
My prayer for you is that you will learn to trust in him.
